Everyone at CARES PGH
We uplift members in our community who may be experiencing hardship by fulfilling drop-offs to diverse locations and organizing bake sales to benefit various charities. We rely on our small, but passionate, team of volunteer bakers to allow us to execute these drop offs, and are always looking to increase our volunteers to ensure the stability and ability for our organization to continue its mission. Some examples of how we do this are: donating desserts to the Women’s Center and Shelter of Pittsburgh and Hearth Transitional Housing, both of which help support and protect victims of domestic violence; making baked goods and cupcakes for youth organizations like Beverly's, the Children's Home, the Homeless Children's Education Fund, and the Foster Love Project; baking treats in person at Family House to uplift those with hospitalized loved ones; providing homemade desserts for big outreach events such as Hello Neighbor's refugee potlucks, and directly interacting with the community through in-person distributions at Hillman Cancer Institute and soon to be the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh; and facilitating multiple bake sales for organizations that may be outside of our reach, the latest of which benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Backpack for Hunger, and the Positive Painting Project.
